Lufthansa has unveiled its first Airbus A350-1000 featuring a special livery created to mark the airline’s 100th anniversary. The aircraft, registered D-AIFA and named “Deutschland,” is currently undergoing final preparations ahead of delivery.
The aircraft is expected to complete its flight-testing programme, cabin installation, and final acceptance process by autumn 2026 before being delivered from Toulouse to Lufthansa’s hub in Munich.
The commemorative livery was applied in Toulouse using approximately 432 litres of blue paint and 246 litres of white paint. The design features the “1926 | 2026” anniversary markings, the airline’s 100th anniversary logo, and Lufthansa’s iconic crane emblem.
The aircraft also marks the 700th Airbus delivered to the Lufthansa Group. Lufthansa has placed firm orders for 15 Airbus A350-1000s, with deliveries scheduled to continue through 2030.
With a fuselage approximately seven metres longer than the A350-900, the A350-1000 offers increased passenger capacity. Lufthansa’s aircraft will be configured in a four-class layout—First, Business, Premium Economy, and Economy—with seating for approximately 300 passengers.
